Law Library of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania
Founded in 1970, the main
library in City Hall is home to a complete "working", hard copy
collection of U.S., Federal and Pennsylvania legal & non-legal
materials. Included is all pending, standing and enacted upon
legislation of the Commonwealth. Legislative histories of Pennsylvania
and most Federal acts are available, along with the Journals of
Debates of Philadelphia City Council ordinances. A diverse, judiciary
geared collection of texts, treatises, course manuals, technical and
non-technical court related reports, current-awareness services,
periodicals and the permanent collection of Common Pleas and Municipal
Court Administrative Bulletins and General Court Regulations are also
available to Court researchers. The main library collection is civil
law oriented. There are ten PC work stations which access Lexis/Nexis
and LAN resources.
The Criminal Justice Center Law
Library was established in 1995. It is a contemporary facility and the
book collection is geared toward criminal law, procedure and evidence.
There are six PC work stations which access Lexis/Nexis and LAN
resources.
